Lavergne and Pereire: basic substances for innovative and sustainable viticulture

DE SANGOSSE Italia presents the new Lavergne and Pereire base substances, innovative phytotherapeutic solutions for grapevine defense. Lavergne and Pereire, based on willow and equisetum respectively, are plant extracts developed through a standardized production process, which ensures consistent quality, maximized concentration of active ingredients, and microbiological stability.
These products stimulate the plant's natural defense mechanisms, improve its physiology, and contribute to more sustainable viticulture. They can be used in integrated production programs, as well as in organic farming, preserving yield and crop quality.

Vineyard Replanting: Timing and Methods for Optimal Success

The replanting operation involves removing and replacing weak, diseased, or dead vines within a vineyard. This topic has been widely discussed in recent years, as it plays a crucial role in maintaining consistent production levels and preventing the spread of serious vine diseases.

Choosing the right time for intervention and the most suitable type of replacement plant are two key factors for achieving successful results. The presentation will also explore the main causes of vineyard decline and offer practical strategies to mitigate damage and limit its spread.

Compost, microbiomes, and soil fertility: innovating vine nutrition through winery by-products

The EMERGE project aims to enhance the value of residues from the wine production chain by transforming them into compost-based soil amendments to improve vine nutrition and soil health, while promoting a beneficial and sustainable microbial community.

Through a multidisciplinary approach, the project investigates the effects of compost on the molecular responses of the vine, the microbiome of the soil and berries, fermentation processes, and the chemical and biological fertility of the soil, with the goal of increasing carbon sequestration and fostering a circular economy.

In summary, EMERGE explores innovative practices for a more resilient and environmentally sustainable wine production chain—from vineyard to glass.

The new regulations, resistant vineyards: yes or no

Introduction to the topic: Riccardo Velasco – Director of the Research Centre for Viticulture and Enology (CREA-VE)

Institutions, consortia, and producers are being called upon to address the ongoing changes and challenges affecting the wine sector—among them, the pressing need for vineyards that are more resistant to fungal diseases and pests, as well as to abiotic stresses caused by climate change. These issues intersect with the pursuit of greater environmental sustainability and the evolving preferences of consumers.

Within this context, the introduction of disease-resistant grape varieties into protected designations of origin could play a crucial role.

Following a presentation on the current state of research into PIWI varieties and the characteristics of the available genotypes—by Riccardo Velasco, Director of CREA-VE—the round table will open a critical debate between supporters and opponents, and foster dialogue with the National Wine Committee. The discussion will conclude with a synthesis of the key points by Eugenio Pomarici from the University of Padua.

Speakers:
  • Stefano Sequino – Director of the Consortium for the Protection of DOC Delle Venezie Wines
  • Andrea Battistella – Deputy Director and Head of the Technical Office, Prosecco DOC Consortium
  • Michele Zanardo – President of the National Committee for PDO and PGI Wines

Vineyard safety and future: insurance coverage for new plantings

The safety of new vineyards is a key challenge for the future of viticulture, especially in a context marked by ongoing climate change and extreme events.
Investing in a vineyard today means facing growing costs and risks that require adequate protection from the outset.
Insurance coverage represents a strategic lever for protecting invested capital, helping to ensure the company's financial stability and the sustainability of the entire sector.
This presentation explores the role of subsidized policies, highlighting the potential of an integrated approach, not only as a risk defense but also as an essential component of modern viticultural planning.
The opportunities offered by surety bonds linked to the restructuring and conversion programs of the CMO wine will also be illustrated, as useful tools for supporting investments and strengthening the competitiveness of winemaking businesses.

Tasting of dealcoholized "wines"

Let’s get to know a type of wine that might just save the day in some “risky” situations — both for your health and for your driver’s license.

What is dealcoholized wine? It’s a traditional wine from which the alcohol has been removed, while preserving the aroma, flavor, and structure of the original.

What does dealcoholized wine taste like? It depends on the variety: it can retain fruity, spicy, or floral notes similar to traditional wine, but with a softer finish.

Paolo Ianna will guide us through the discovery and tasting of four dealcoholized wines of different styles and origins.

The tastings at 3:00 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. will offer the same selection of wines.
